My catch-up post!!

Ok, I have some time to back track a little and discuss things I missed! So this post may be long. Hope yer in for the long ride! (hehe it's funny talking to myself!!)

First off: Christmas. This year the kids were sooooooo excited about Christmas!! The presents, the decorations, the fun and overall excitement of it all!! Unfortunately, it didn't turn out as planned. For the first time in 5 yrs, we had to have a fake tree. As it turns out, Max had a HORRIBLE reaction to the real tree we got on the 18th of Dec. He was coughing and had such a hard time breathing. It was horrible. I ended up taking him to the ER. Turns out it was an allergy attack to the tree. They said the tree allergy is on the rise unfortunately. And since he's so susceptible to allergies... Ugh. So being a week away from xmas we couldn't find another tree and had to use the one in the basement that grandma had gotten her grandbabies. :P It was better than Charlie Brown's tree tho! hehe!

On top of that I was still in testing mode for my Cushings. I had to do a 5 day urine test while taking dexamethasone every 6 hrs. Suffice it to say, I was fine at the beginning, but by the end I was sooo sick. With a cold, sinus infection, laryngitis... Ugh. Stupid me decided to take the test 5 days before xmas, so I was a mess ON xmas. :( Thankfully my wonderful hubby took care of everything. The presents, the dinners, etc. The kids were happy with their presents and whatnot and that's all that matters IMO. The day after Christmas, we drove down to VA to visit my mom's younger sister. We love her and she's just the greatest!!! The kids had a blast there too and Emily got to have girl's out shopping day! Max was still suffering from a small cold and allergy issues still, so he ended up staying in with me for the most part. We stayed for 3 days and then came home. We stayed in for New Years and I was still fighting this never ending cold/sinus infection. I finally got to the doc the day after new years and got an antibiotic. A day later I was feeling MUCH better! Figures!

The kids went back to school after new years and it was back to normal again. But Max was still dealing with this cough that would NOT go away. It was a dry cough and when he'd get around an allergen - it became deep & chesty. I felt so bad and feel like I tried everything!! So I finally made him an appt at the allergist. He had to have blood drawn again for a ton of allergies. I was sooo worried about this. He hadn't had blood taken in over 6 months. He HATES shots and always tells me to to tell the doctor to not give him a shot when we go to any doc. :( Poor guy.

But he did AMAZINGLY well!!! Hubby told him if he drank enough water, his veins would pop up and it wouldn't hurt as much. So he kept drinking! And when he'd cry cuz he was worried, he'd ask for more water cuz it kept coming out his eyes! LOL It was so sweet. The nurse that had to take his blood was very good with him. He cried just a little, but she got the needle in w/o hurting to much and after that he just talked to the nurse! No more tears!! I was so proud!!

We found out he still has a severe allergy to nuts/treenuts, dogs/cats, and dust and only a mild allergy to egg whites and cheddar ironically enough. Those usually just give him the runs, so I'm not overly worried. It's the nuts I'm worried he'll never outgrow. :( He still has the penicillin allergy and the nickel allergy as well, but those are dealable. He's supposed to go back to test for seasonal allergies too which I swear he has. Doc said no, but reactions ALWAYS trump test results IMO.

Ok, so what else...My 35th Birthday...
Wow. What can I say about this. It's sort of a big one. Officially mid thirties. Closer to middle age... But I'm happy to be alive. With all my issues right now, age seems so silly. But the kids were cute with it. Max says he wants me to be 5. Then I can be 6 when he's 6 and so on so forth. This way he won't ever be without me and we can die together. :( How sad is that!! I've been getting the whole God/death questions from him lately and I'm not sure how to answer him. It's too close to home for me with all of hubby's issues and now mine. And then of course Grandma was in the hospital over xmas too, but that's a whole other post... It's just too close to my heart and I get very emotional talking about. I need to be objective. I just don't know how.

But Emily was really cute and was ok with me being 35. She said if I was only 5, then I couldn't be a parent! hehe! Then she'd have to get Grandma or Nana to take care of her and she didn't want that. She's just the sweetest most thoughtful girl!!! But overall, my bday was nice. We had a little party - just the 4 of us the day before my bday and the day OF my bday we went out to dinner with my FIL to Red Lobster. Where they proceeded to sing to me embarrassingly enough. hehe! But I love Red Lobster, so I don't care. :D
